Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long. If you prefer more time please let me know and we can find a space on the schedule to accommodate a longer session.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! I have a limited number of spots in my practice for a reduced rate. Please inquire about this if finances are the barrier to you starting therapy.
Do you take insurance?
I am not in network with any insurance providers. However, please check with your insurance to see if they will offer any reimbursement, and I am happy to provide a monthly superbill.
What is the benefit of paying out of pocket for therapy?
Insurance companies require a diagnosis after the first session, without which, they will not cover the cost of your therapy. This is simply not appropriate for most clients. For clients who do receive a diagnosis, insurance companies can limit the number of sessions they will cover based on the diagnosis received. By paying privately, clients are in the position of control over their mental healthcare.
Do you offer online therapy to California residents?
Yes! I am currently accepting new online clients throughout the state of California.
Is telehealth safe?
Although there are always risks to telehealth, I conduct all of my virtual sessions using a fully HIPPA compliant platform.
What is your cancellation policy?
To avoid paying the full fee for your session, please confirm your cancellation a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
What do the letters after your name mean?
Good question! AMFT stands for Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. This means that I am registered with the state of CA as a pre-licensed therapist. CTP stands for Certified Trauma Professional. This means that I have completed extra trainings to receive certification as a trauma trained practitioner.
