Lane Assaf, MA, AMFT, CTP

(She/Her)

Lane is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (124236), supervised by Stan Rushing, LMFT (33618). As a Certified Level I Gottman Method Couples Therapist, one of her passions is working with couples to improve communication and increase intimacy. As a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP), Lane also finds great fulfillment in working with individuals who have extensive trauma histories. Her life experiences and work allow her to connect deeply with clients who struggle with PTSD and C-PTSD, childhood abuse and neglect, and sexual trauma. Lane does not believe that one has to forgive an abuser to heal, and prefers to meet her clients where they are in their healing journey and help them find the path that works best for them.

Lane has worked with clients from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, as well as clients from various sexual orientations and identities. She is LGBTQ+ affirming, ND affirming, and continues to learn and grow in order to be a better therapist and person. Lane provides an empathetic, trauma informed, supportive, safe space for clients to explore their inner world, while helping them recognize their strengths and develop new coping strategies for the future.

Lane holds both a Master’s Degree in Psychology from CSULA, as well as a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Touro University. Her research on multi-racial couples has been published in the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences. She completed her clinical training with a non-profit agency as a school counselor working with children and their families, and now works with adult individuals and couples.

As a late diagnosed autist, Lane feels passionate about helping other neurodivergent (ND) individuals whether that be with self acceptance and self diagnosis, learning individualized coping skills, or process and heal from the trauma of existing in a world designed for neurotypicals.

Lane also supports these clients through continued learning, the use of ND affirming language and therapy modalities, and by rejecting ableist mentality and practices. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Glendale Area Mental Health Professionals Association (GAMHPA), and is dedicated to continuing her professional growth through trainings and continuing education.

In her free time Lane enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with her family and in nature, learning and growing as a parent of an ND child, and snuggling with her cat Bandit.
